Evening primrose oil is a famous source of the essential fatty acids gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) (omega 6), linoleic acid (omega 6) and oleic acid (omega 9).
Linoleicacid is the precursor of gamma-linolenic acid.
Gamma-linolenic acid, abbreviated GLA, belongs to the omega-6 fatty acids.
Oleic acid, or omega-9, is a monounsaturated fatty acid.
