What is L-tyrosine?
L-tyrosine is a non-essential, proteinogenic amino acid. It is non-essential because the body can produce it from the amino acid L-phenylalanine . Proteinogenic means that L-tyrosine is involved in building the body's own proteins .[1] In addition, the amino acid is the starting substance for numerous other substances, such as neurotransmitters (dopamine), melanin and the thyroid hormones T3 and T4.
What is N-Acetyl-Tyrosine from Jarrow Formulas?
The product N-Acetyl-Tyrosine from Jarrow Formulas contains the amino acid L-Tyrosine in the innovative, more absorbable form N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine. The acetyl group increases water solubility and therefore bioavailability. The vitamin B6 it contains supports protein metabolism and contributes to the regulation of hormone activity [2].
The product is gluten-free, soy-free and contains no genetically modified ingredients.
