What is L-lysine and what effect does it have?

L-lysine is one of the essential amino acids, the building blocks of proteins. L-lysine is essential because the body cannot produce it itself and is therefore dependent on dietary intake.
As an important building block for the body's own proteins, L-lysine is jointly responsible for the formation of numerous tissues and cells[1].

If you would like to find out more about amino acids, their effects and functions, you can find here further information.

Which foods contain L-lysine?

  • Pork
  • Fish (e.g. tuna, carp)
